Pictures from LAST weekends trip to K Country

Well I am only a week late in posting these pictures for your enjoyment. Sorry. Been kinda lazy lately.
We went out with Ron last weekend to this beautiful spot we had visited often during the summer. We had a half mile hike in ...snow was very very deep and the sled was full so it was quite a trip in and out. But as I said - it was a beautiful spot and we had it to ourselves.
We took many pictures and explored the area and built a fire and relaxed and ate and chatted and enjoyed ourselves imensely.

Day at the Mall

Yesterday I met up with my friend Susan for a day at Chinook mall. We had a very nice time together. We had lunch and went for coffee at Second Cup...mmmmm Vanilla Bean Latte's are the best! we shopped around, and we relaxed and chatted and watched all the people. OLater in the afternoon we headed out to a consignment store not far from the mall called Vespucci's. It's a really nice place and has lots of good quality clothing. I am glad she showed me that place.
Glad we were able to get together, Suzie - love you!

Date Night

On Monday night Mark and I decided that we needed to treat ourselves to a night out - just the two of us.
We went to SMUGGLERS which is this really great, expensive restaurant where they serve prime rib. The meal was fabulous. We ate soooooo much!! We enjoyed eachother's company so much. It was really a wonderful evening. I love my husband so very much and we needed to have a night like this as it has been quite awhile. I LOVE YOU MARKY!

Sunday dinner

On Sunday evening Mark and I went out with our friend Tracey, her daughter Evelyn and her friend Jeff. We went to this restaurant called "china rose" for their buffet dinner. Jeff and I both REALLY enjoyed the sweet n' sour chicken ... all white meat and the chunks were big and the batter was really thin. It was so good. Other places have hardly any chicken and lots of batter. So, we've found a new favourite place to go for chinese... YAY!

I hadn't seen Tracey since I was in the hospital so it was really great to get together with her for awhile and catch up.

Edith

My friend Edith passed away on Friday, March 9th, 2007. She was 91-years-old.
She was an amazing woman. She was very loving, very positive and had a great sense of humour.

I feel so blessed that I was able to get to know her, spend time with her etc. She is very special and I will miss her.

Her family are all really great people, too, and they took Mark and I out for brunch on Sunday to say thank you for our support and for loving their Gran. That was so very nice of them! they even gave us something to remember her and we all promised to keep in touch.

You just never know who you will meet and what impact they will have on your life.

"People will forget what you say, people will forget what you do, but people will NEVER forget how you made them feel"

I love you Edith and God bless you

New Hair

Well here's my hair cut...decided to try out the bangs...what do you think???

Well, yesterday I got a call from Edith's family and they said I could come down to the hospital again as she was more alert. So, I headed over there and spent some time with her and she talked with me a little bit but mostly she was just really tired out and wanted her hand held so we all took turns doing that throughout the day/evening.

Mark came after he got off work and she was real happy to see him, too. We stayed until 930 last night. The doctors expect she will be gone within a few days and we are so very glad that we got to see her one last time and talk to her and just be with her.

It was so nice of the family to allow us to be there at that time. They are all so sweet and loving towards Edith. She is a very special person and her family are all great, too. When we were leaving they said they would keep us posted and then have us to dinner once things calmed down. So that is nice.

Our Sunday Adventure

Boys packin up the fishing gear
Little Ronnie

On Sunday we went with Ron out to the upper Kananaskis lake and spent the entire day/evening there. It was absolutely beautiful there. We had an amazing day.

We had a hot dog roast for lunch and then went ice fishing on the lake. The ice was three feet thick and Ron had the perfect set-up for fishing. He had a stand for the poles and a bell to put on the end of the rod so he would be alerted of any biting. We didn't catch anything though, but that's okay. it was still a new experience for us.

We went for a walk and took lots of pictures and then we relaxed for awhile...almost falling asleep in the nice sunshine. Mark and I were laying in the sled. It was nice!

After that we decided to go sledding as there was a fairly big hill. What fun that was! We were air borne a few times. Mark and I went a few times by ourselves, Ron went a few times and then the three of us went down together a bunch of times and that was the best!

After all that excitement we were hungry so we cooked some burgers. By that time it was getting dark and we put our two dogs in the car...Lucky because he was whining too much over the fire and Rocco because he was C O L D!! and then we kicked back and relaxed.

The stars came out and so we went down into the middle of the lake and gazed up at the stars ... it was so amazing.

All in all it was one of those perfect days mixed with fun and relaxation.

Do you remember when I mentioned in a post after my hospital stay that I had met a 91-year-old lady in the hospital? Her name is Edith and she and I became quite close as we shared a room for a week. I continued to visit her nearly everyday since I was released from the hospital. She is an absolute sweetheart and she so smart and has a great sense of humour. She has led a very interesting life and has shared many stories of her time growing up as well as her adult years and told me all about her family etc. I have enjoyed my time with her so much and am so glad that I was able to visit her so often.

I went to the hospital last night for a visit and found out that she has severely declined in the last day and a half and they don't expect her to be with us much longer. Some of her family were already there and I stayed for about two hours with everyone. It's so sad but she has led a good, happy and healthy life and she isn't afraid.

It is apparent that she is a very special person as her family -the love and concern in that room is amazing. I am so glad that I got the opportunity to meet her and get to know her.
