Yep you guessed it...we went to the mountains again on Sunday! We went to the upper Kananaskis lake and had a hot dog roast and went for a nice walk along the lake and throughout the day the weather went from a beautiful sunny day to white-out conditions..it did this prolly 3-4 times throughout the day. We didn't mind at all! Just so nice to be away from the city!!

Saturday Afternoon
On Saturday I spent the afternoon with Ron at his shop working some pieces that are for a show room in a funeral home for the ends of quarter sections of caskets.
I hadn't ever done any sort of carpentry work before and I really enjoyed it. We didn't have to do too much though....it was MDF wood and I used the band saw to cut the corner off and then Ron would router the pieces and I would do the sanding.
Yep - I really enjoyed it and now am hoping that Ron and I can get started on a project that we'd talked about a long time ago...building Mark and I some nightstands for our room. That'll be so fun!!! I hope we can get started soon.

Friday Night
On Friday our friend Jenny came by and together we made Ron's special spaghetti dinner over at his place since he had all the special spices etc. When it was made and tasting oooh soooo good! we headed back to my place and found Ron and Mark already home from work.
We finished getting dinner ready...noodles and garlic bread...and called Dad and the five of us sat down to a wonderful dinner.
Then we had dessert which was a DELICIOUS cheesecake that Jenny had made. My goodness was it ever good! Way to go Jenny! Dad wants me to make sure I get the recipe for that one and I will for sure.
After dessert we cleaned up and settled in at the kitchen table for an evening of Skip-Bo. We had a really fun time telling stories and all that. We played about 4 games of it I believe. It was great fun.
Thanks Ron & Jenny for spending a fun evening with us!
And to Liz my highschool bud, sorry we didn't play a game with you guys when you were here this summer...we've never been into games etc. but are now starting to see just how much fun it can be...next time we see you (which may be sooner than you'd think *wink wink*) we'll have to play for sure!!

Our visit with Mom and Joe
Well, these two pictures are from the weekend. The first is my Mom and her boyfriend, Joe. They really make an adorable couple and I am so happy for them!
We had a very nice visit over the weekend. They arrived on Wednesday evening and left on Sunday. We did lots of stuff including going to the Calgary tower and walking on the glass floor which was pretty neat. Mark of course was jumping up and down on it like a little boy and I even walked on it and wasn't scared at all! Mom and Joe on the other hand were VERY scared of it. Mom did walk on it though...with her eyes covered and guided by Mark. Haha.
Hmm what else did we do...oh yes we went out for dinner and then went to a pub by Kellie's place and played pool and played the VLT's...that was an interesting night. The people there were interesting...
On Friday we had breakfast wtih Mom and Joe and then Joe and Mark headed downtown while I dropped Mom off at Kellie's place and went over to Ron's to get dinner ready. We had a big turkey dinner which was very yummy. Ron had kindly offered my Mom and Joe the use of his place for the weekend so they didn't have to stay at a hotel.
On Sat. evening we went out for dinner again and then the boys...Joe, Mark, Jamie and Eddie all watched Ultimate Fighter or something like it. Us three girls just hung out with Ron's cats and the computer and chatted.
On Sunday morning we headed over to the house and I made a big pancake/bacon/sausage breakfast for everyone. After that Kellie and Jamie said goodbye and headed back to their place and we hung out with Mom and Joe for awhile longer and went to the Crossroads Market where they helped us to purchase a computer...an early b-day present for me. THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!
Then came time to say goodbye. We had a very nice visit and it was sad to see them go but they had a few stops to make before heading home. Safe driving guys!!

The last week.
My apologies for not writing in the last week. I have been busy lately.
Last Wednesday I drove to Red Deer to meet my friend, Cheryl from Edmonton. She came with her three kids...Ciara, Avery & Jett. We had a nice time together shopping and going for lunch and shopping some more and then out for coffee at Tim Horton's. I hadn't seen Cheryl for at least two years so it was really good to see her and also to meet her two eldest children...Ciara and Avery. Thanks for hanging out with me and travelling from Edmonton to do so!!!
On that same day I met a very dear lady, Ethel at a restaurant where we spent a few hours chatting and having dinner. It was so very nice to see her and talk to her. She is very wise and very loving. Thank you for the visit Ethel!! *Hugs*
I drove home after seeing Ethel and while driving the long hour and a bit I talked to Suzie on the phone...it was nice to have company on that long drive. I got home just before midnight I think it was. Thanks Suzie ;-)
Ummm...let's see what else has happened...oh two important phone converstations were had this past week as well.
The first was with my dearest Sister-in-law, Clara. We had a looonng conversation and really talked and it was so good to talk with her about that stuff. I really am so lucky to have her...she is so loving. Thank you Clara...lots of love to you!
Also I talked to my cousin, Leslie, whom I haven't spoken to since I was around 12 years old I believe. She lives in Toronto and her Dad (my uncle Kerry) passed on my blog address to her and she sent me an e-mail one day and we communicated that way a few times and then she called. WOW - she sounds like an amazing woman and I hope some day that we can meet again. She is almost two years older than I am. We had lots of catching up to do. It is unfortunite that we don't live closer as I do think her and I would get along really well. Thank you for calling, Leslie ..*hugs*
On Friday afternoon I met up with my friend, Ingrid, and we went for a bit of a walk downtown and then went into the Devonian Gardens and hung out and chatted. She is always fun to hang out with!
This weekend I spent some time cleaning up this house. I don't mean the usual, vacuum, sweeping, mopping and laundry...I mean the real cleaning...cleaning the fridge, organizing cupboards, organizing the mountain of paperwork and bills etc. that collected on this computer desk..what a job! And I ain't done yet..but getting closer all the time:-)
On Saturday afternoon I met Lynne at Tim Horton's. She is my sweet friend, Edith's granddaughter. I think it is so very nice of the family to keep in touch with us after her passing. So, we had a nice little visit and will probably do something again in a week or so.
On Saturday evening I drove to Chinook mall to meet up with a lady who works at the law firm I worked at. Her name is Bettina. We had a nice time together shopping and having coffee etc. I was so tired though...seriously I haven't got much energy lately.
Today I took our king size comforter to the laundromat and sat in there and crocheted. I started a project in January after seeing my OTHER MOTHER, but have since quit that one because it will never turn out as I wasn't so good back at the beginning..I started on a project much too big for a starter project. So now I am crocheting a little lap blanket and other than it not being completely even, it is going very well. I actually got a lot done on it. I am going upstairs after I finish this post and will crochet a little bit more. I really enjoy it but I wish I knew someone around here who knew how to crochet as I would like to learn more. But this is good practice until such time as I meet someone who can do that.
Well, I guess I should get off here. Oh...the next post down is a forward that I received in my e-mail tonight and I decided to post it because it has a REALLY good message.
God bless you all!

Lessons of Life
There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge
things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at
a pear tree that was a great distance away.
The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in
summer and the youngest son in the fall.
When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe
what they had seen.
The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted.
The second son said no it was covered with green buds and full of promise.
The third son disagreed; he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so
sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.
The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with
fruit, full of life and fulfillment.
The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they
had each seen but only one season in the tree's life.
He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season,
and that the essence of who they are and the pleasure, joy, and love that
come from that life can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons
are fulfilled.
If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the
beauty of your summer and the fulfillment of your fall.
Moral of the Lesson
Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of the rest.
Don't judge life by one difficult season.
Persevere through the difficult patches knowing that
better times are sure to come some time.
Aspire to Inspire Before You Expire!
Live Simply.
Love Generously.
Care Deeply.
Speak Kindly.
Leave the Rest to God.
Happiness keeps You Sweet,
Trials keep You Strong,
Sorrows keep You Human,
Failures keep You Humble,
Success keeps You Glowing,
But Only God keeps You Going!

May God Bring You
Peace and Contentment during 2007
