Not a terribly uplifting note I'm afraid

Well what can I say - it's a super hot day and the house is almost unbearably hot.
I went downtown at lunchtime today to meet a friend for a walk. It was really nice to see her and also to go for a walk by the river. It wasn't too hot because there are lots of trees to keep the pathway shady.

Afterwards I came home and the phone rang...It was the temp agency that I interviewed with yesterday calling me for a job already! Just a short one...Friday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday for 8 hrs/day. The pay is only $12/hr but that's okay - it's better than nothing to start with!!!

I am so glad that I am finally feeling well enough to go back to work. It hasn't been that fun sitting around the house feeling sick all day and knowing that I should be working and need to be working....

Last night I measured my waist and discovered that I have grown a whole TWO inches already and I am only at 11 1/2 weeks!!!!

Some of you may know that I have issues with my weight and even though I know that gaining weight and getting bigger right now is a really good thing - at this point it's still really hard for me because I worked so hard to get "skinny" and at this point I just look "chunky" and not pregnant and yes, I know I shouldn't care what other people think but I do! This is something that I really need to work on because the last thing I want to do is pass on my insecurities to my child!

Mark just got home from work and he is exhausted. I feel so bad for him as he has been so stressed out lately with this job he is running. It isn't like him to get this stressed about work or anything for that matter so you know it's gotta be real bad. My poor lil sweetheart. Two more months or less and this job should be completed - thankfully! After that he will be okay :-)

Well that's all I have time for now as I have to finish getting dinner ready. Mark just went over to his brothers to get some propane as we just ran out! Grr!!

Hope everyone is doing good! Byeee.

Beautiful Day

Here is a picture of our adorable dog, Lucky.

This is Ron's puppy, Sakima. Ain't he adorable!!!

OOOH look at us :-)

Isn't Rocco adorable?!!

And of course my HANDSOME husband!!!

Today was such a wonderful day for us. We went to Kananaskis country with our friend Ron. We went to the Upper Kananaskis Lake and then to the Lower Kananaskis Lake. OMG - it was absolutely gorgeous!!

We roasted hotdogs on the campfire and went for a hike and took the dogs swimming and took tonnes of pictures. We just got home and it is 10 PM!

It was so beautiful out there that we wished that we could stay instead of coming back to this concrete jungle that we call home. Why exactly are we living in a big city????????????

We are hoping to do lots of camping this summer as we positively LOVE the great outdoors!

10 Weeks 3 Days

How your baby's growing: Your baby is no longer an embryo! Though she's barely the size of a kumquat — just an inch or so long, crown to bottom — and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, she now has completed the most critical portion of her development. This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in her body rapidly grow and mature. Her vital organs — the liver, kidney, intestines, brain, and lungs — are now in place and starting to function (although they'll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy). Her liver continues to make blood cells, and the yolk sac, which previously supplied these cells, is no longer needed and begins to disappear.

During the next three weeks, your baby's length will more than double to nearly 3 inches. Her head is proportionately smaller now than it was a few weeks ago, but it's still almost half the length of her entire body. Her forehead temporarily bulges with her developing brain and sits high on her head; it will later recede to give her a more human appearance. Each day, more minute details — including tiny fingernails, toenails, and peach-fuzz hair — start to appear on her body. Her fingers are now completely separated; her arms bend at the elbow and curve slightly; her hands are flexed at the wrist and meet over her heart; her legs are lengthening; and her feet may be long enough to meet in front of her body. She is busily swallowing amniotic fluid and kicking her legs.If you could take a peek at your baby this week, you'd be able to clearly see the outline of her spine through her parchment-thin skin. Spinal nerves are beginning to stretch out from her spinal cord.* Note: Experts say every baby develops differently — even in the womb.

How your life's changing: Your uterus has doubled in size by now. Before you got pregnant, it was the size of a small pear. By this week, it's grown to the size of a grapefruit. At your next prenatal visit, you may be able to hear your baby's rapid heartbeat with the help of a Doppler, a hand-held soundwave stethoscope that your practitioner will pass over your belly. Many women say that the beating of their baby's tiny heart sounds like the thunder of galloping horses and hearing it for the first time is one of the greatest joys of the first trimester.

New Puppy

Our friend Ron came over today and brought with him his new puppy (yet to be named). He is adorable as you can see and so so sweet! He is an Akita. They hung out here for awhile and we let the dogs play...well Rocco doesn't play well as you all know...haha...but Lucky was good with him!

Lessons in Life:

I once told a wise man that I didn’t have time to read the Bible. He responded by telling me that the choice of whether or not I read the Bible was why Jesus died on the cross for my sins. I started reading my Bible again.

Then I once told a very close friend a lie. He responded by telling me the decisions he made were based upon my Christian witness. I have long since told the truth.

A man once told me his deepest secret which I quickly whispered to another. After hearing his secret repeated he told me the reason he told me was because he needed a Christian friend that would listen and pray for him. I no longer take information I am entrusted with so lightly.

I once was involved in gossip and the friend who it was about found out. Now I have learned to guard my tongue and not fall into that "trap."

I once told a friend that I prayed a small prayer for him and his family everyday and he cried. He said it was not the prayer that made him cry --- it was that I had taken the time to think of him. Now I pray for friends and family often.

Once I told a wise old Pastor my Christian dreams and visions. He smiled warmly then asked if I ever planned on putting them into practice. I now choose to spend my days very differently.

Prayer: Father thank you for helping me learn each lesson to grow closer to you. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!

HI.

Well, that's all the photos I have time to upload right now. I still have to add a few pics of the extended family and such but I will get to that another day.

There was a thunderstorm last night and little Rocco was so scared. From 1200-4:30am he would not settle down and well...it's hard to sleep with a dog laying on your head, licking your face, crawling under the covers, on the covers, on the bed and off the bed. The poor little guy sure doesn't like the thunder. Luckily Mark escaped to the spare room for the night since he has to work early in the morning.

Now Rocco is up and fully rested and has his toy in his mouth waiting for me to grab it, but ummm...sorry kid you kept me up all night - Mommy needs a rest!! LOL.

Oooh, and Ethel...I haven't received the books yet but I am sure they will be here soon.

Well - it's nearly lunch time. Better figure out what to make for my little Daddy and I.

Bye for now.

Family Photos Part 3

This picture is of a couple from my hometown of Savona that I called my "Other Mom and Dad" and they called me their "adopted daughter." I haven't seen them in two years and I sure miss them.

9 Weeks and 1 Day

How your baby's growing: Your new resident is nearly an inch long — barely the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce, but he's poised for rapid weight gain now that his basic physical structure is in place. He's also starting to look more and more human. His embryonic "tail" is now completely gone and his body parts — including organs, muscles, and nerves — are kicking into gear. His eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. He has earlobes, and by week's end, the inner workings of his ears will be complete. His upper lip is fully formed, too, and his mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The tips of his fingers are slightly enlarged where his touch pads are developing. All major joints — his shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, and ankles — are working, enabling your baby to move his limbs. As for his heart, it has divided into four chambers now, and the valves have started to develop. External sex organs are there, but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks.

The weekend

On Friday we had friends over for dinner that we hadn't seen in a really long time. It was good to see them again.
On Saturday Mark spent pretty much the entire day working on the Grand Prix. He put new brakes all around and rotors on the front. Works so much better now and wow - no more squeeking!!!!
Last night we just relaxed and watched tv.
This morning we were very lazy and didn't get out of bed until noon. Gotta love mornings like that!! :-)
We picked up the lobster around 1ish.
After that my friend called and she needed to get out of the house and for a bit so we picked her up and went to the Farmers Market.
After that we dropped her off, picked up a few things from the grocery store and headed home.
We cleaned out the fridge and then we had a feast of lobster....MMMM it was sooooooooo good! Dad really enjoyed it too. Thank you Jerry!!!!!
After dinner I headed to church - and the sermon was about overcoming worry and anxiety...a good one for me to hear!
Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus"
Well - that's about it for tonight.
We hope everyone is doing good!

Well, today was kind of a stressful.
I had a doctor's appointment and then had to have more bloodwork done. Both times I was waiting for over half an hour just to get in!

I have lost a few pounds in the last month! And today was the worst day yet as far as the nausea and the smells...ooh my sense of smell is sooooooooooooooo crazy now. I went into the grocery store today and OMG I could hardly stand the smell! The doors and all the windows have to be open when cooking and afterwards for awhile until the smells go away. It's frigin crazy!

So, after the doctors, the lab, the grocery store, the gas station, looking for a job, I finally got to go home.

The silver lining for me is my amazing, adorable, supportive and loving husband. I love him so very much and thank God everyday that I have him in my life!!!

Picture

I am going to slowly post some pictures of family and friends...

I will start with this picture which was taken a few weeks ago when Judy & fam were here.
This was taken in Lake Louise. What a beautiful picture of Judy with her two baby brothers :-)

Productive Day

First of all I wanted to say thank you to those of you who took the time to leave a comment or send me an e-mail. Very nice to hear from you!

Today was a pretty good day actually. We got up early-ish and mowed the lawns and trimmed the front tree and wow - what an improvement!! The yard looks nice again.

Mark went to a car show this afternoon because Cliff had his car in it. He had a really good time.

While he was gone I did some cleaning up around the house and then Rocco and I layed down for a nap. I am just sooooooooooooooooooo tired these days! Everytime Dad comes upstairs I am laying on the couch with a blanket wrapped around me and either watching tv or sleeping.

We had hamburgers for dinner tonight. I made them and Mark barbequed them. Pretty yummy.

After dinner I got ready and picked up my friend Susan and we went to church. The sermon was really good and afterwards we got a drink and chatted in the little cafe in the church.

Tomorrow we have a busy day so we'd best head to bed soon.

Goodnight all & God bless!

What a day!

Today started off not so well because I didn't sleep very much last night and I am very tired today.

I got a call from the doctors office this morning saying that they had the results of my ultrasound and wanted me to come in to discuss them....well normally the walk-in clinics don't call you unless something is wrong so needless to say I was a teeny tiny bit worried even though the lady who did the ultrasound said things were good.

My Dad needed to get a prescription filled too, so I asked him to come along. Now listen to this...I had a shower, fixed my hair and my face and he STILL WASN'T READY!!! I guess my Dad is one of those rare guys...he sure took a long time. Of course, it's partially to do with that pony tail of his - it has to be JUST right when he is going out in public...HAHAHAHA!!

We finally got to the clinic and then waited for half an hour. I finally get called into the examination room and the doctor comes in and asks what I am there for so I tell him. He searches all through the chart but can find no ultrasound results and well I was getting kinda annoyed so I suggested that he go and talk to the girls out front. He came back in with a big grin on his face and handed me the sheet.

It said that baby is doing well thusfar and on Monday was approximately 11 mm long and that the fetal heartbeat was detected at 135 bpm. So then we talked a little bit about how I've been feeling and if I'm eating the right things and all that. So, everything is fine but he said I should rest as much as possible right now because the first three months are crutial.

Well - I have plenty of time for rest right now being unemployed and all :-(

The examination is over and I head out the door and there is my Dad in the room beside me pacing back and forth because he is bored and hates waiting. I chatted with him until the doctor came in and headed next door to the grocery store.

I bought watermelon - MMMMM I LOVE watermelon!!

Anyway, so I did that, Dad got his prescription filled and we headed home. Fixed a quick lunch and Dad decided that he wanted lasanga for dinner...so back to the grocery store we went for cottage cheese and such.

While we were there my sister called and when she found out that Dad was out and about she asked me to bring him over to her house as he's NEVER been there before!! So, that's what I did...we went over there and spent a few minutes and then Kell came back with us. She didn't come alone though...she is looking after this Boxer, a white boxer, oh so adorable but is deaf. Anyways, so they came back here and he and Rocco had a good ol time playin around in the yard and in the house.

Kellie's boyfriend, Jamie came over just before dinner...mmm lasanga was so good but I was so disappointed in myself...I could hardly eat any! Damn why can't I be turned off food when I am trying to lose weight - it would make things so much easier!! LOL.

Mark talked to his sister Ethel and told her the news...cept she had ALREADY heard! Hmm...who spilled the beans??????????? Now we are just waiting for Maggie to call us back, hopefully tonight before she finds out too...or maybe she already knows?????

Well, I suppose I have rambled on long enough for one night.

Chat later...love you guys!!
